Microsoft slows Windows 11 June 2025 Update rollout over issues

You won’t see Windows 11 KB5060842 if you check for updates today morning because the patch is being throttled and replaced with a revised version.

Microsoft says it temporarily paused Windows 11 24H2’s June 2025 Patch Tuesday Update rollout after it identified compatibility issues with some devices. Microsoft officials won’t tell us what caused the problem, but the company told Windows Latest that it has already released a revised KB5060842 update without issues.

2025-06 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5060842)

It is worth noting that we’re not seeing reports of PCs running into major issues after the Windows 11 KB5060842 update because Microsoft identified the problem immediately after the rollout and released a revised version with the same KB number.

But it also means that most users won’t see the June 2025 Update (KB5060842) for the next few hours.

“We identified a problem with that affects a small number of devices,” a Microsoft support official told me. “This update [KB5060842] is being gradually rolled out to devices running Windows 11, version 24H2. We’ve identified a compatibility issue affecting a limited set of these devices.”

“If your device is affected, you’ll receive a revised update with all the June 2025 security improvements in the near term,” the company noted.

I’ve never seen Microsoft throttle Windows security updates before, since they’re usually labeled urgent or critical. This is the first time in a long while, and it makes me wonder what the compatibility issue was and how it slipped past Microsoft’s testing?

It is also worth noting that most of the changes in the update were previously tested in the Windows Insider Program, and later via an optional preview update on May 28.

Regardless, Windows 11 June 2025 Update has been delayed briefly, and it’ll begin showing up on your PC by the end of the day, according to the Windows giant.

This is a developing story….
